KUCHING: Dewan Negara President Tan Sri Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar had a bilateral meeting with Ghanian Parliament Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin at the 66th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Accra, Ghana.

The meeting yesterday (Oct 5) involved other official Malaysian delegates, namely Minister of National Unity Datuk Aaron Ago Anak Dagang, Senator Datuk Wira Dr Mohd Hatta Md Ramli, Senator Isaiah D Jacob and Parit Sulong MP Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad.

This meeting had exemplified the power of dialogues and collaborations achieved during the conference, reaffirming the commitment to shared values in upholding the intact execution of both nation’s legal constitutions by the respective Parliaments.

Discussions during the meeting also laid the groundwork for future cooperation and exchanges, strengthening the bonds between both countries.

Alban thanked Wan Junaidi for leading the Malaysian delegation in a constructive participation at the conference, contributing value to the conference and to the country’s economy in general.

He also encouraged Malaysia to consider economic partnerships and investment in Ghana and further foster the existing diplomatic ties between both countries.

Wan Junaidi also thanked Alban and the organising committee of the conference for providing the platform for him and other Malaysian representatives to contribute actively during the conference and for extending an outstanding hospitality and warmth to Malaysia’s delegation throughout the event.

This is also the first meeting between the two senators since the appointment of Wan Junaidi as the Senate President on June 19.

The 66th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference was hosted by the Parliament of Ghana and the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) branch in Accra from Sept 30 to Oct 6.
