KUCHING: The recent appointment of Tan Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar as the president of the Dewan Negara signifies the strong position of Sarawak within the federal government.

Political observer Datuk Peter Minos expressed his surprise and stated that this appointment, alongside the current position of Deputy Prime Minister held by Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, showcased the trust and respect that the federal unity government and the overall federal government have for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and the Sarawak government.

He further mentioned that these appointments indicated a positive outlook for Sarawak, with expectations of robust economic development and overall progress in various aspects of the state.

“The success of GPS in managing Sarawak’s relationship with the federal government is evident, and we are now reaping the benefits of that success. We in Sarawak are pleased and grateful to be recognised and acknowledged,” Minos said.
