KUCHING: The Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (STATOS) held the Sarawak Warrior Night recently to acknowledge travel agents who had been instrumental in advancing the state’s tourism narrative.

According to STATOS, the event held in Singapore also saw the presentation of the Sarawak Warrior Award 2023 to the top three travel agencies for their exceptional performances and dedication in promoting Sarawak as a premier travel destination.

“These agencies which contributed the most to Sarawak’s destination marketing efforts in Singapore   received a trophy, a certificate of achievement and a contribution prize.

“The recipients are Gold  — EU Holidays Pte Ltd which won  a contribution prize worth of RM9000.00, Silver — Amazing Borneo Travel & Events Pte Ltd which won  a contribution prize worth RM 6000.00 and  Bronze –Singatour Pte Ltd  which won  a contribution prize worth of RM 3000,” STATOS said in a statement yesterday.

Meanwhile, Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said that the partnership the ministry had with the local counterparts had been so important.

“And this is the reason why we created this appreciation night. Our partner agents have portrayed the fighting spirit at the core of Sarawakians, ‘Agi idup agi ngeleban’, which means ‘We will fight to the end’.

“As we recover from the aftermath of COVID-19, we want to celebrate the dedication and hard work of our partners who have helped us to promote Sarawak in Singapore,” he said.

Chairman of STATOS Tan Sri Datuk Amar Morshidi Abdul Ghani said without the cooperation and support of the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak (MTCP), Sarawak Tourism Board, Business Events Sarawak, Association of Sarawak Inbound Agencies and Sarawak Tourism Federation, along with their partners — hotels, airlines and industry partners — the night would not have been possible.

“The collaborative efforts of both destinations have been vital in creating strategic partnerships that will benefit the tourism industry and travellers alike. It is through events like these that we can truly gain more insight into improving our business operations and marketing efforts,” said Morshidi.
