MIRI: An underage girl claimed that a 17-year-old boy whom she befriended via Wechat has raped her.
Miri Police chief Lim Meng Seah when contacted yesterday confirmed receiving a report on the alleged offence.
Lim said the case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code.
“We have not made any arrest as our investigation is underway,” he said.
According to Lim, the 12-year-old girl was invited by the boy to come over to his home in Permyjaya.
“On Friday, she went to the house and the alleged offence also took place then,” Lim said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the girl befriended the boy for almost one month before the alleged rape happened.
Both the victim and the suspect are still in school.
