BINTULU: Some seven schools are affected by the drought that hit the Bintulu Division since a few days ago.

According to the Social Welfare Officer Bintulu Division, Taddy Ajin, the Welfare Department in Tatau District has taken proactive measures to ensure that water supply can be sent immediately to the areas affected.

“The dry season has caused many wells to dry up. Schools that depend on wells for their water supplies are SK Nanga Tau, SK Kuala Muput, SK Sungai Bagian, SK Rumah Kesing, SK Kuala Annau, SK RumahTayai and SK Rumah Barau.

“The Welfare Department has distributed 4, 378 boxes of drinking water to the area and the Fire Rescue and Services Department (Bomba) is helping with the distribution,” Ajin said.

He called on villages in Tatau District to contact the local Welfare Department if they run out of water due to the prolonged drought.
