KUCHING: A coffeeshop waitress known only as Christina said she was shocked to learn that her husband had committed suicide at a condominium in Batu Kawa last Sunday afternoon. 

Christina said the last time she saw her husband was on the day he died when she went to work at the coffeeshop that morning. 

Her husband had told her that he was going to visit his father but her sister told her on Saunday afternoon that her husband had died after she read the news in the social media.
Chai Teck Fong aged 37 was said to be suffering from mental illness a few years ago and the couple has a 12 year-old daughter. 

He had jumped from the 17th floor of the condominium at about 1pm last Sunday.

His wife and daughter are staying in a rented apartment at Kampung Gita. Christina said they used to live in the condominium before. 

Chai’s remains were released to his family members for burial yesterday.
