KUCHING: Sarawak Skills is always sensitive to the manpower needs of the various industries in Sarawak.

Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain said apart from technical skills, Sarawak Skills also emphasised on positive human capital development such as integrity, teamwork, creativity and innovation, and proficiency in communication, especially in the English language.

“Sarawak Skills now provides consulting services, by introducing automation elements that lead to IR4.0 system integration elements to the industry in Sarawak with the hope of helping the industry reduce waste, improve product quality and further increase company productivity.

“With this integrated system, information and knowledge will be able to flow smoothly through the entire supply chain and enhance cooperation between industry, manufacturers, suppliers and customers,” he said at the PPKS Ilmu Vocational College, Private Skills Training Institutes (ILKS) convocation ceremony here on Tuesday (March 29).

Abdul Aziz said the collaboration between Sarawak Skills and industry players had provided many mutual benefits, especially in improving the skills of workers while providing an added value in the knowledge of its students who have undergone industrial training.

He added that Sarawak Skills’ membership in the Federation of Malaysian Skills Development Centre (FMSDC) had helped Sarawak Skills keep abreast of TVET developments.

“Even through FMSDC, Sarawak Skills has been entrusted with training graduates who have not yet found employment, with additional skills relevant to the needs of the industry.”

He also noted that Sarawak Skills would regularly hold various activities with emphasis on TVET education.

“These programmes include skills camps, industry talk as well as meetings with the industry and schools.”
