KAPIT :Green Hornet 36, Orion 13, GB Group 31, BGRT 68, Majeniezs E66 shone in the final race of the just concluded Kapit Fest Powerboat Competition.
The event was one of the activities held in conjunction with the closing of the week-long Kapit Fest, Entrepreneurs Showcase, Consumerism Carnival and Anugerah Carta Siapa Juara (ACSJ) IV (August 11-20) held at the Kapit waterfront.
The one-day powerboat competition was organised by Kapit Division Powerboat Association (KADPA).
Green Hornet 36 won the 50 Hp Tunnel Boat category with Black Sparrow 78 in the second place and Song Team 09 in the third place. In the fourth place was Alta Belos 46 while Majau 93 came fifth.
Orion 13 racing team won the 30 HP Tunnel Boat category with KJM 33 in the second place, Green Hornet 36 in the third and Antu Rayau 36 in the fourth place.
The 35 HP Tunnel Boat (Two Piston) category was won by BGRT 68 team while HR Speed 16 came second and Antu Rayau 36 was third.
GB Group 31 racing team won the 18 HP Tunnel Boat category while Song Team 09 came second and Antu Rayau 36 was third. Buwing Warriors 81 captured the fourth place while KKRT 5 came fifth.
Meanwhile, the Pump Engine 8HP category was won by Majeniezs E66 while Majeniezs 77 came second and Pesaka Baleh 49 was third. Majeniezs R33 came fourth while the fifth place was captured by Mild Seven 98.
The first to third place winners received prizes in the form of cash and trophies while those in the fourth to fifth places received their prizes in the form of cash.
On hand to give away the prizes to the winners were Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr. James Jemut Masing (for the 50 Hp Tunnel Boat and Pump Engine categories), Member of Parliament for Hulu Rajang, Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong (for the 30 HP Tunnel Boat category), Walikota of Kapit District Council, Councillor Philimon Nuing (for the 35 HP Tunnel Boat- Two Piston category) and Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Charles (for the 18 HP Tunnel Boat category).
Also present together at the prize giving ceremony were organising chairman, Jack Janda Pioh, head of the various government departments, community leaders led by Penghulu Salang Batang and Councillor Ellison Silo Bilun.
