KUCHING: The Magistrates’ Court today (Nov 16) fined a 25-year-old woman RM1,500 after she pleaded guilty to lodging a false police report, claiming she was sexually assaulted at a hotel in Batu Kawa on Oct 30.

Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi ordered the accused, Ayu, 25, to face a three-month jail term in default of the fine.

According to the charge sheet, Ayu filed the false police report on Oct 30 at the Kota Sentosa police station around 10.37pm.

The charge, framed under Section 182 of the Penal Code, carries a penalty of imprisonment for up to six months, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.

The case facts revealed that Ayu filed the police report claiming that she was sexually assaulted by a 51-year-old hotel worker in a hotel room on Oct 30.

Further investigations revealed that Ayu not only fabricated the report but also admitted to allowing the hotel worker access into the room.

The motive behind lodging the false police report became evident when Ayu found out that she was discovered by her husband at the hotel.
