MIRI: A woman was killed when the car she, her husband and their baby girl were travelling in collided with a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle at Tukau Sungai Putus Bridge, Jalan Bakam here last Wednesday.

Miri District Deputy Police chief, Superintendent Stanley Johnathan Ringgit said the deceased was identified as Fatin Liyana Jafri, 23.

He said Fatin’s husband who sustained minor injuries in the 7.00pm incident was taken to Miri Hospital for treatment while the baby girl, who suffered a head injury, had been sent to the Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching for further treatment.

Stanley said the driver of the four-wheel-drive vehicle was unhurt while the passengers suffered light injuries.

It was believed that Fatin’s husband had attempted to overtake a motorcycle while heading to Bintulu when he lost control of the Proton Saga car and collided with the 4WD that was travelling in the opposite lane.

Stanley said police were investigating the case under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act, 1987.
