Woman killed in van-lorry crash

SERIAN: A 43-year-old woman was killed in an accident involving a van and a lorry along Jalan Serian-Sri Aman near Kampung Sungai Pinang yesterday (Oct 18).

The victim, identified as Yee Jin Lee, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

A spokesman from the state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said Bomba received an emergency call on the incident at 10.15am.

Six firefighters from Simunjan fire station were deployed to the scene, which is located 55km away from the station.

Upon arrival, they found the victim trapped in her seat. She was successfully extricated by the firemen using special equipment.

The victim’s body was later handed over to the police for further action.

Police said investigation into the case is ongoing.
