MIRI: A housewife who had just returned from Bintulu could only watch her house being destroyed in a fire in Desa Senadin here last Tuesday.

In the 5.00pm incident, Jessica Linsing, 30, and her son had just got out of their car and were shocked to see smoke billowing from their house.

Jessica said she was shocked and unable to do anything except looking at her neighbours trying to put out the blaze while waiting for firefighters to arrive.

“Although my neighbours have tried their best to put out the fire, they were unable to do so as the fire spread quickly to other sections of the house,” she said when met at the scene.

She said she had left her house vacant for the past two weeks as she was with her husband who is working in Bintulu.

Meanwhile, Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 6 chief, Law Poh Kiong said two teams of firefighters from Lopeng and Miri fire stations were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 5.06pm.
