KUCHING: The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Women will play an effective role in ensuring that the party will continue to become a strong backbone of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said this in alluding to her winning the PBB Women chief post for the 2022-2025 period uncontested when nominations for its Supreme Council closed on Friday (June 10).

She said that as the backbone of GPS, the PBB Women must have a very strong desire and commitment in ensuring that unity and harmony prevail within the party.

“It is essential so that the party can ensure the manifesto that has been promised is implemented and not just mere rhetoric.

“Furthermore, we will also ensure that the aspirations of the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS2030) can be implemented with a clear focus so that Sarawak becomes a high-income developed state by 2030,” she said.

Fatimah explained that PBB Women also practised a culture which is to always put the party (PBB) before themselves.

“We strongly emphasise that the party is important and it needs to come first.

“It must be strong because that strength that we offer will help our other members to realise the main agenda of the Sarawak government.

“When there is strong unity and strong cooperation, the government will be stable,” she added.
