KUCHING: A Chinese Muslim Community Cultural Centre will be built at Jalan Diplomatik here.

Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) reported that the Sarawak government had agreed to provide land for the new building.

President of Chinese Muslim Welfare Association Sarawak (PERKTHIS), Mortadha Lau Abdullah said that the project was currently at the architectural planning stage and construction was expected to begin in 2025.

“The cost of building the centre on the 1.5 acre land has not yet been finalised,” he said.

Lau told reporters this after paying a courtesy visit on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the latter’s office at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building at Petra Jaya here today.

Also present were PERKTHIS deputy president Muhammad Luk Sulaiman and other PERKTHIS members.
