KUCHING: The members of the Sarawak Community Policing Association (SCPA) paid a courtesy call to the state Commissioner of Police Datuk Azman Yusof at his office.

Leading SCPA was its chairman Datuk John Lau.

During the courtesy call, Azman extended his appreciation to SCPA’s members for partnering with the police in crime prevention and confirmed that the crime rate has dropped in Sarawak.

Lau briefed Azman on the association’s activities, including distributing crime prevention leaflets in neighbourhoods, organising crime prevention talks, and conducting citizen patrol with the police.

Azman then encouraged SCPA to play a role in lowering the usage and selling of illegal drugs. It was agreed in the coming months, SCPA looks forward to be trained by the police.

At this moment SCPA, is one of the three registered community policing associations in Sarawak. It is encouraged that all community policing work need to be a registered legal entity.
