MIRI: The younger generations must work with the government in bringing development and in championing Sarawak’s rights.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the state government considers youth development important because the youth is its future asset.
“Concerning the GPS government’s struggle, we want the Sarawak rights that have been enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement (MA63) to be continued and complied with,” he said.
Awang Tengah said this during the Townhall session ‘Today for Tomorrow’ organised by Sarawak Volunteer in Bekenu on Saturday.
He added the efforts to develop Sarawak should be by Sarawakians as they know and understand the needs of the people.
“This fact must be accepted by our young people, and when they do, it is easier for the present leadership to prepare them for the future.
“At the same time, they must learn all living skills so that they become competitive in the job market, which will ensure their socio-economic wellbeing.
“In time they will be grow up to be people with all the potential to be the leaders of this state,” he said.
Also present at the Townhall session were Sibuti MP Lukanisman Sauni, Bekenu assemblywoman Rosey Yunus and Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat.
