Yayasan Petronas, PCSB-SKA extend support to underprivileged families

MIRI: In anticipation of the upcoming Gawai Dayak celebration, Yayasan Petronas and Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd Sarawak Asset (PCSB-SKA) collaborated with the Sarawak Welfare Department (JKM) to provide essential food supplies to 300 underprivileged families from Miri and Bintulu.

Through their “Memacu Kehidupan: Hari Gawai Dayak 2023” programme (formerly known as Sentuhan Kasih Festive programme), each family received a contribution consisting of vital food items. These included rice, cooking oil, sugar, flour, salt, sardines, tea, Milo, raw groundnuts, rice vermicelli, sweet soy sauce, soy sauce, coffee, and a festive cookies hamper.

Additionally, the beneficiaries were given Petronas Mesra gift cards worth RM20 each. These cards can be utilised to purchase essential food items or petrol at any Petronas stations in Bintulu and Miri.

PCSB-SKA senior general manager Anuar Ismail said the programme aimed to enable deserving families to celebrate the upcoming Gawai Dayak festival with greater joy.

“We hope our small contribution will help bring joy to these families as they prepare for the upcoming Gawai Dayak celebrations.”

The ‘Memacu Kehidupan’ initiative strove to provide food assistance to those in need during significant celebrations in the country, allowing them to partake in the festive season with happiness and contentment, he added.

“The programme is designed to foster a sense of community and support during these special occasions.”

The event on Monday (May 22) was also attended by deputy Miri Resident Juan Ubit, Miri District Officer Siti Rohanie Yusuf, and Yayasan Petronas executive officer Shariah Nelly Francis.
