PADAWAN: A local man died on the spot following a fatal collision at the Jalan Stephen Yong-Jalan Datuk Amar Wee Bong Ping traffic light intersection on Friday night (Feb 9).
Padawan police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said that the accident, involving a Honda City and a Yamaha motorcycle, happened around 10.49pm.
The collision occurred when the Honda City was moving towards Batu Kitang from Jalan Batu Kawa and the Yamaha motorcycle ridden by the victim, suddenly crashed into the right side of the vehicle.
“As a result, the victim identified as Maximus Howell Olen, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
“His body was taken to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for post-mortem examination,” he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old driver and his 26-year-old passenger managed to survive the crash without injuries.
Abang Zainal stated that the police are looking for any witnesses to facilitate investigation into the incident.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
