Youth fined RM5,000 for threatening his father

KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here today fined an unemployed man RM5,000 for uttering death threats to his biological father.

Magistrate Zaiton Anuar also ordered Attirmidzi, 31, to be jailed nine months if he fails to pay the fine.

According to the charge sheet, he committed the act at their residence in Taman Matang Jaya, Jalan Matang, at about 8am on November 30.

The charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code carries seven years prison sentence or a fine or both upon conviction.

According to the facts of the case, when the victim, aged 73-years, was in the living room, his son suddenly scolded him while asking for the motorcycle key.

However, the victim refused to hand over the key since the accused does not have a valid driving license.

Following this, the victim also asked where the missing appliances and household goods in the house were.

This made the accused become furious, and uttered, “aku pukul kau kelak, mati kau kelak (I’ll hit you and you will die)” while throwing a helmet at the victim which he managed to dodge.

Worried about his safety, the victim lodged a police report for further action leading to the arrest of the accused on the same day.
