KUCHING: With zero new case of Covid-19 on Monday (Sept 28), the total number of positive cases remained at 706 since the last case was detected on Sunday (Sept 27).

State Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said two districts, namely Kuching and Lawas, remained as yellow zones following the previous detection of one Covid-19 case in Kuching and three in Lawas respectively.

He added 38 other districts in Sarawak remained as green zones.

“For the three positive cases detected in Lawas, 161 close contacts were detected and screened. All are still waiting for the laboratory test results,” he told a press conference on Monday (Sept 28).

Uggah added there was also no active Covid-19 cluster in the state.

“One new case has recovered and was discharged from the hospital today (Sept 28).

“The case was detected in Sarawak and admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital in Selangor.

“This brings the total number of Covid-19 positive cases that had recovered and been discharged to date to 682 or 96.6 percent,” he told a press conference on Monday (Sept 28).

Uggah added that five individuals were still receiving treatment at hospital isolation wards.

“Three are receiving treatment in Miri Hospital and one each in Bintulu Hospital and Sarawak General Hospital (SGH). There is also no case receiving treatment at hospital intensive care units (ICUs).

“One case detected in Sandakan, Sabah is currently receiving treatment at Bintulu Hospital,” he said.

Uggah added that the death toll remained unchanged at 19 deaths in total or 2.71 percent.

He said two new persons under investigation (PUIs) were reported while none was awaiting laboratory test result.

Uggah also revealed that 342 detainees were screened at Semuja Depot while 389 detainees and 53 officers were screened in Bekenu, Miri. All screening results were negative.

“This is good news,” he said.
