KUCHING: Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) president-designate Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin’s comment that the party is not eyeing any seats in Sarawak in the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15) has been “misinterpreted”.

The party president Datuk Larry Sng said he had spoken to Zuraida regarding the latter’s comment at a press conference in Kuching yesterday.

“Her comment has been misinterpreted… As for now, PBM will be contesting all incumbent seats, including Julau,” he said when contacted.

“I’m ready to defend my seat,” he added.

Sng, currently the sole PBM MP in Sarawak, won the Julau as an independent in the last general election.

Two days ago, he told New Sarawak Tribune that his party will not contest parliamentary seats currently held by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the GE15 but would only consider contesting in seats that GPS had lost in last general election.

“We want to focus on areas where we are strong and would not want to contest for the sake of contesting,” he added.
