SIBU: The vending machine business has created 30 job opportunities in Borneo since its establishment here in 2020, said JS Smart Vending Chief Marketing Officer Fazliy Malik.

He said for the past three years, their collaboration with Borneo Smart Vendors has achieved sales of RM100 million.

“This achievement indirectly created around 100 job opportunities in both Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo, with approximately 30 in Borneo alone.

“Within two years, 30 individuals were employed to work in the Borneo Smart MA Vendor team,” he said in a press conference after the opening of the Entrepreneurship Seminar on Vending Machines here Saturday (Sept 2).

Fazliy said through the data gained in a vending machine entrepreneur programme or agent system, approximately 1,200 people registered with them.

“Seventy per cent of them are youth, and most of them transitioned to full-time roles and successfully generated consistent income.

“In other words, the RM100 million we generated over the past three years opened up opportunities and created a robust business ecosystem that directly impacted more than 1,000 individuals who earned income through it,” he said.

He also said that not only those who become agents but the suppliers are also benefiting from the business.

“For example, products that could not reach their market or be promoted in prime locations before now gained recognition through our vending machine ecosystem, resulting in increased sales,” he said.

“A vending machine may seem like just a machine, but when we leverage our experience and knowledge, it creates a substantial business ecosystem in the Malaysian economy, particularly in Borneo.”

Meanwhile, Borneo MA Smart Vendors Sdn Bhd managing director Andenson Dato, said that they received positive response from the public on the seminar.

“Vending machines not only gained popularity among people within Malaysia but also in foreign countries. This will give huge opportunities to all the vending machine pioneers here,” he said.

A total of 110 participants participated in the seminar.

Also present was Borneo MA Smart Vendors Sdn Bhd Chairman Alexander Kadir Dato.
