KUCHING: After 11,550 business premises were inspected throughout the state, the Sarawak Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) recorded 103 cases (compound value amounting to RM12,900) under the Price Control and Anti -Profiteering Act 2011.

The cases were recorded from Feb 5 to 10 June 10 this year during the implementation of the maximum retail price determination for chickens and chicken eggs.

Sarawak Chief Enforcement Officer Peter J. Berinus Agang said the maximum retail price determination would continue until June 30 and that his department would continue to conduct inspections throughout Sarawak until then.

“This is to ensure that traders comply with the prices of chicken and eggs that have been gazetted by the current government and these inspections are carried out daily to ensure that traders put on the price tags,” he said .

He also advised traders to always comply with the law in their business transactions.

“Consumers are advised to get information on the prices of goods through the KPDNHEP Price Catcher application to get the best prices at nearby locations,” he added.
