MIRI: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) plans to distribute ‘Rahmah Baskets’ to 130,000 households living in extreme poverty across the country by the end of this year.

Deputy Minister Senator Fuziah Salleh said that this initiative, which began in January, has already provided 100,000 ‘Rahmah Baskets’ to individuals nationwide.

“The government came up with this plan, and it’s getting support from stores, big companies, groups that are not part of the government (NGOs), and people who give money (donors). They all worked together to help people who are very poor be able to afford things,” she said.

She said this after distributing 60 ‘Rahmah Baskets’ to students of Kolej Komuniti Miri today.

Also present were Miri MP Chiew Choon Man, Sarawak Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) director Matthew Dominic Barin, Miri KPDN chief Joe Azmi Jamil and Miri Kolej Komuniti director Harmen Muda.
