MIRI: A total of 136 school children received assistance at the ‘Handing Over of School Necessities to Single Mothers’ Children’ at a shopping complex here yesterday.

The event is one of the annual programme organised by the Kelab Sosial dan Kebajikan Harmoni Miri in collaboration with the Single Mother support group.

Assistance provided was schooling needs such as school uniforms, shoes, socks and school bags.

Transport Minister and Senadin assemblyman Datuk Lee Kim Shin officiated at the programme.

According to him, the help is meaningful to single mothers as it can ease their burden especially during the opening of the new school year.

“With this assistance, I hope the children will look forward to school life. It is important that they feel excited about going to school,” he said.
