MIRI: Practising a healthy and active lifestyle isn’t just for adults, but also for children as it is best nurtured from a young age.

In creating awareness that children can also take up fitness challenges and compete amongst themselves, Saiful One Fitness United (S1FU) is organising its fourth S1FU Kid’s Obstacle Challenge Race (KOCR 4.0).

The obstacles are meant to challenge the runner’s agility, body coordination, problem solving skills and so forth.

According to S1FU’s founder, Coach Saifulbahri, “KOCR is built based on challenging yet child-friendly obstacles to encourage a child’s confidence.

“An obstacle of walking through a wooden plank would test the child’s balancing ability while overcoming a tangled web of string tests the child’s coordination”, he said.

KOCR 4.0 will be held on March 30 at the Miri Hospital quarters ground. Flag off time is 7:30am.

The event is open for children aged from 5 to 12 years old. There will be three age groups; 5-6 years old, 7-9 years old and 10-12 years old. Prizes are available for the top three male and female runners of each age group.

In the past years, the KOCR event had successfully gathered enthusiastic participation from parents and children alike. Numbers of participation were up to 80 children.

This year, the event is jointly organised by S1FU with Columbia Kids Club (CKC), Kelab Sepitar Sejahtera (KSS) and Pasukan Bomba & Penyelamat Miri.

The organisers are anticipating participation up to 150 children. It will be a fun-filled day with a fire truck exhibition and demonstration by Bomba, as well as various food stalls.

Registration for KOCR 4.0 is still open until March 29 and those interested can register online at http://bit.do/s1fukocr while manual registration can be done at Columbia Asia Hospital Miri or through S1FU admin at 016-577-7565 where inquiries can also be made.

Registration fee is RM45 per person where each runner is entitled to a finisher t-shirt, a medal and goody bag.
