Dalat police have issued 17 summonses against motorcyclists for various traffic offences. They also confiscated three motorcycles.

DALAT: Police have issued 17 summonses against motorcyclists for various traffic offences in an operation codenamed ‘Op Motosikal’ recently.

According to Dalat district police headquarters (IPD), the integrated operation took place around Oya and Dalat, involving eight police personnel from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division, the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division and the Criminal Investigation Division.

The the team inspected 10 motorcycles and issued 17 traffic summonses to the riders for various offences.

The offences include riding without a licence, possessing expired road tax, lacking insurance coverage, failing to display licence plates as per specifications, exhaust modifications, motorcycle structure modifications, and failing to display the ‘P’ sticker.

In addition, three motorcycles were also confiscated.

Following this, Dalat IPD urged motorcyclists to refrain from arbitrarily modifying their machines, especially the exhausts, as they disturb public order.

They are also reminded to ensure that their motorcycles do not pose a danger to themselves and other road users.

Police said similar operations will be conducted periodically to ensure that all road users comply with the traffic rules and to educate them to be more disciplined and prudent when riding on the road.
