SIMUNJAN: Batang Sadong MP Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri has attended 18 programmes non-stop within a day on Saturday.
She was fulfilling her duties to the people after three months of not visiting the areas under her supervision due to the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) and its advanced phases.
However, after the recovery MCO (RMCO) was enforced on June 10 which permitted interstate travel, she was able to do justice for all the times she had missed visiting and monitoring development projects in Sadong Jaya, Simunjan and Gedong.
Nancy was together with her team known as #teamnancyshukri and they started their journey as early as 7am until 6pm.
The non-stop programme began with a visit to a rural transformation programme (RTP) project involving the construction of the new Gedong Tahfiz Centre which is scheduled for completion on Oct 4 this year.
Nancy then visited an upgrading project of Simunjan District Office which is scheduled to finish on Aug 9.
She also examined the quality of completed construction projects such as the upgrading of Rumah Usahawan Wanita Simunjan.
Among others were monitoring the construction of Surau Pantong Melayu together with Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris as well as presenting certificates to 15 participants of a face mask sewing course; and visiting the Rumah Usahawan Wanita Sadong Jaya with Sadong Jaya assemblyman Aidel Lariwoo.
Nancy also presented cheques to 27 residents of Gedong, Sadong Jaya and Simunjan under the Program Penambahbaikan Rumah Rakyat Miskin Sarawak (house repair programme).
The federal Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture also identified potential tourism hubs in her area.
Among those identified are sites near Batang Sadong Bridge which was proposed to have a rest and relax (R&R) stop, and the Batang Sadong Heritage Hall as a cultural centre.
She also explored the Sadong Jaya jetty, which has fireflies at night and is another attractive tourist destination.
