185 Padawan food premises maintain impressive Grade A ratings for two consecutive years

KOTA PADAWAN: A total of 185 food premises operating under the jurisdiction of the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) have successfully maintained their Grade A rating for cleanliness for two consecutive years.

MPP chairman Tan Kai siad in both 2021 and 2022, each of these food premises achieved an impressive rating of 85 percent or higher.

He explained that the programme aims to ensure that owners consistently uphold cleanliness, food and beverage quality, and safety standards.

“As food operators, their role is crucial in ensuring food hygiene and safety for visitors, as environmental cleanliness is something of utmost importance in our daily lives and aligns with societal practices and culture.

“It also reflects the identity and the image of the community as a whole,” he said.

He said this in his remarks during the certificate presentation ceremony for the Clean Food Premises Programme and the MPP Clean Food Premises and Restrooms Competition 2023 here today (Oct 18).

The event also recognised the top five food premises that achieved Grade A by presenting them with certificates and mementos.

They were Ping Delights (Emart Batu Kawa Commercial Centre), Serapi Corner (Batu 7 Town), Simple Up Cafe (Kota Padawan), David Axel Cafe (Taman Desa Paul Batu 7), and Yii Kee Chicken Rice (Batu Kawa Bazaar).

Tan then stated that a total of 187 food and beverage premises under MPP were assessed for the Clean Food Premises and Restrooms Competition in 2023.

“As a result, nine food premises were shortlisted in the competition and were evaluated based on criteria such as food and beverage preparation, restroom cleanliness and facilities, preparation area, personal hygiene, and other licensing requirements.

“The first place was awarded to Man Xiang Lau Delight Cafe (Moyan Square Commercial Center), the second place to Yong Xing Place (Bandar Baharu Batu Kawah), and the third place to Bombay Spices (Batu 4) Sdn Bhd (Golden Court Commercial Center),” he added.
