195 discharged from hospitals

KUCHING: Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 195 people had recovered from Covid-19 and were discharged from the hospitals in Sarawak on Sunday (Feb 21).

It said 87 cases were from Sibu Hospital, 57 from Miri Hospital, 20 from Sarikei Hospital, 15 from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), 14 from low-risk quarantine centres (PKRC) under Kapit Hospital, and one each from Bintulu and Limbang Hospital.

The committee said this brought the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 5,774 or 72.69 percent of the total Covid-19 cases in Sarawak.

On the same day, SDMC said there were 2,066 people still undergoing treatment at hospital isolation wards in the state — 1,135 in Sibu Hospital, Miri Hospital (244), PKRC under Kapit Hospital (277), SGH (216), Bintulu Hospital (185), Sarikei Hospital (31), PKRC Sri Aman (27), and PKRC Lawas (one).

It said the state also recorded 191 new person under investigation (PUI) cases while seven PUIs were still awaiting laboratory results.

SDMC added 608 persons under surveillance (PUS) had been checked into various hotel and quarantine centres.

The committee said there were a total 5,228 PUS placed at 84 hotels and quarantine centres statewide as of Feb 21 while a total of 66,758 PUS had completed their quarantine.

SDMC added police had issued a total of nine compound notices to those who violated the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Of the total compound notices, three were issued in Limbang, two each in Kuching and Lawas, and one each in Padawan and Miri.
