2022 cargo handling of 50.73 tonnes by Bintulu Port

BINTULU: Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) recorded cargo handling of 50.73 tonnes for the year 2022.

The Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) quoted its Group chief executive officer Datuk Mohammad Medan Abdullah as saying it was an extraordinary performance where the number showed an increase of 7.6 per cent compared to 2021.

He explained that BPHB also achieved positive growth for all its subsidiaries.

Meanwhile, the number of vessel calls and container volume also increased by 11.4 per cent and 4.4 per cent respectively.

“This simultaneously recorded 2022 as the year of best performance since BPHB started operating in 1983,” he said at the BPHB Customer Appreciation Ceremony here held recently.

He also expressed his appreciation for the contribution and cooperation of each related party that enabled the company to achieve the best performance.

Meanwhile, Medan also announced that his tenure as the Group chief executive officer will end and the position will be helmed by Ruslan Abdul Ghani effective March 1.

“I believe there is a bright future for the Bintulu Port Group under his leadership.

“So let’s continue the momentum and synergy among ourselves to achieve better performance in the coming years,” he added.
