Teen held for running amok at kindy

TANJUNG MANIS: A teenage boy allegedly under the influence of drugs was arrested for damaging a Tabika Kemas in Kampung Rajang here, yesterday (June 13).

The 17-year-old was promptly caught by the school’s security guard before he was handed over to Tanjung Manis police.

Sarikei police chief Supt Awang Arfian Awang Bujang said they received a report regarding the incident which happened around 8.20 am.

“The suspect had gone amok and caused property damages in and around the school. He is believed to be under the influence of drugs,” he said.

A 36-year-old teacher sustained injuries to her hands, leg and back while protecting nine children from the suspect who was trying to enter the classroom.

The suspect also caused damages amounting to about RM700 to properties.

Awang Arfian advised the public not to speculate on the case, which has gone viral on social media.

The case is being investigated under Section 427/323 of the Penal Code for mischief resulting in loss or damage.
