227 5G sites completed as of Feb 28

KUCHING: As of February 28, 2023, a total of 227 sites out of the total target of 587 5G sites have been completed by Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) in Sarawak.

In a news report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), Communications and Digital Minister, Ahmad Fahmi Mohamed Fadzil said, these include areas in Bintulu, Kanowit, Kuching, Miri, Samarahan, Sarikei, Sibu and Sri Aman.

He said for Sibu, six sites out of the 75 planned 5G sites have been completed while the remaining 69 sites are expected to be completed by the end of 2023.

“The status of the 5G sites in Sibu are as follows; Sibu Town (19), Teku (15), Lanang (15), Camp Rascom Batu 10 (12), Sungai Merah 2 (2), Kerto Island (2), while Teku Park Phase 1, SK Sg Salim, Rumah Panjang, Breeding Farm Sibu, Kem Junaco Park Regimen, Rantau Panjang Industrial, Tanjung Kunyit, Roundtree Timber, Nanga Salim, Ladang Retus with each getting one site,” he said.

He said this through a written answer in response to a question from a member of the Dewan Rakyat, Senator Robert Lau Hui Yew in the Dewan Rakyat session recently.
