KOTA SAMARAHAN: A total of 2,417 underprivileged groups in Samarahan received assistance at the Sejambak Kasih event in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year.

Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Mohamad Razi Sitam said the event aimed to alleviate financial strain while bringing joy to aid recipients during the festive season and improving the quality of life for their families.

He mentioned that the recipients of the “bouquet of love” also receive monthly support from the Sarawak Social Welfare Department (JKMS).

“During yesterday’s symbolic ceremony, 150 recipients were provided with RM100 in cash and RM80 worth of gifts.

“Meanwhile, the cash assistance will be immediately credited to the accounts of other recipients,” he added, following the Aidilfitri Charity Ceremony at the Al-Muttaqin Mosque in Samarahan Division.

Razi said similar programmes were conducted in every section of the state, from Kuching to Limbang, and were overseen by the JKMs in each area.
