KUCHING:  A total of 335 new householdswill benefit when the upgrading works on the Water Treatment Plant in Stapang is completed.

Assistant Minister of Water Supply Datuk Liwan Lagang said the project had been approved by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development  for implementation and consultants had been appointed to do  the design works.

Now the Ministry requires that it has to go through various processes including the implementation of the Value Management Lab before the project is tendered out.

“The  Ministry of Rural and Regional Development will  hold the Value Management Lab on the Upgrading of the Sekuau Selangau  Water Treatment Plant Project by the middle of November 2018 to  refine  the effectiveness of this project,” he said  when  replying to  Ir  Christopher  Gira Anak Sambang (BN-Tamin) in the august House yesterday.

As to when the people in the area will be able to enjoy clean treated water, he said, he believed the answer to the question had been answered by the people themselves and the request had been forwarded to the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development under the 11th Malaysia Plan for consideration.
