SIBU: Thirty-five people from six families became homeless after their wooden house at Jalan Sentosa Timur here collapsed.

In the 5.45am incident yesterday, most of the occupants were getting ready to send their children to school when a sudden jolt shocked them.

In no time, the whole house came crumbling down after one of the poles gave way, leaving the occupants in a daze.

The State Fire and Rescue Department said although the damage to the house was significant, nobody was seriously hurt in the incident.

It was learned that the occupants had previously tied a supporting pole to the damaged one. However, it still broke and gave way.

The victims had received help from the Civil Defence Force while firemen had helped the victims to retrieve their personnel documents.
