KUCHING: Fifty boys aged 7 to 13 years old yesterday took part in a circumcision ceremony held at Bukavu Hall, Penrissen Camp here in conjunction with the 5th anniversary celebration of the Malaysian Army Eastern Field Command (EFC). The boys were children of army personnel.

The event, which started at 7am, was officiated by EFC Commander Lieutenant General Datuk Wira Zamrose Mohd Zain.

In his speech, he said, “The anniversary of EFC is on 31st of March but this year, EPC will hold a series of events from today till this Sunday.”

Wira also said that the seven-day event would include a rite of passage ceremony for the brave boys who took part in the circumcision ceremony, a gathering of EFC personnel on Friday for prayers and a marching parade and a regimental dinner.

“Today, the circumcision ceremony is sponsored by Tabung Zakat ATM and aided by the Royal Medical Corps,” he said.

“This is possible because ATM provides the best medical service for our military personnel,” he added.
