62 compounds issued statewide

SOP NON-COMPLIANCE

KUCHING: Police have issued 62 compounds to individuals in the state on Friday for not complying with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said the police will continue to enforce the SOPs including the use of face masks and social distancing in public places.

“Kuching recorded the most compounds issued with 34, followed by Bintulu with 20 compounds.

“Padawan has issued three compounds, two in Betong and one compound each in Miri, Limbang and Kota Samarahan,” the statement read.

On the inter-zone travel restriction in Simunjan and Sri Aman, police recorded 994 vehicles that have passed between zones (1 and 2) from Aug 7 to 8.

Of the total, 979 of them have obtained travel permission and 15 were ordered to turn back for not having a travel permission letter.

To date, 1,685 premises have been monitored throughout the state. They are restaurants (439), supermarkets (121), banks (100), places of worship (98), public markets (81), government offices (67), hawker stalls (65), leisure places (36), construction sites (14), factories (11) and others (653).

The committee also informed that 1,165 vehicles were inspected in six Ops Benteng roadblocks in five districts, namely two in Lundu and one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
