SIBU: Seventy orphans and less fortunate children received food baskets and ‘duit raya’ at the Ihya Ramadan programme here yesterday.

According to Pertubuhan Kebajikan Islam Malaysia (PERKIM) Sibu Branch chairman Datin Sharifah Zaidah Syed Abdul Aziz, it was the association’s annual programme during the month of Ramadan.

“Food packet donations are from the Farley Foundation, while ‘duit raya’ is from PERKIM and others.

“Thirty PERKIM members in Sentosa will receive the same aid,” she said when met by reporters during the programme.

Sharifah Zaidah also said that the association carried out various events such as the Al-Quran khatam ceremony and ‘tazkirah Ramadan’.
