74 cyclists join in i-Sihat Simanggang Fun Ride

SIMANGGANG: A total of 74 participants successfully completed the 40-kilometre cycling at the i-Sihat Simanggang Fun Ride in an effort to promote healthy lifestyle practices to the surrounding community.

Deputy Talent Development Minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said, in addition to responding to the government’s call to make the Healthy Malaysia National Agenda (ANMS) a success, activities like these are important to cultivate a healthy lifestyle.

He expressed his congratulations for the commitment of Che Chuan Khor Morale Uplifting Youth Organisation, Benak Cycling Club (KBB) and Sri Aman Division Medical Club in organising the i-Sihat Simanggang Fun Ride this time.

“I understand that this morning, a total of 74 participants spent time cycling 40 kilometres starting from the grounds of the Che Chuan Khor Uplifting Organisation Centre and turning back at the Skait, Lingga intersection.

“Congratulations to the organisers who joined together in inculcating a healthy lifestyle to the community through outdoor leisure activities in addition to responding to the government’s call in ANMS,” he said here, yesterday.

The Simanggang assemblyman was present to present certificates of appreciation to sponsors and participation certificates to cycling participants.

He explained that without good cooperation it is impossible for such a programme to be successful, especially when it involves the participation of various races.

“This is our uniqueness in Sarawak and together we maintain unity so that we can live in a peaceful and prosperous and healthy state,” he said.

He wants the community to respond to the government’s challenge in promoting and practicing a healthy lifestyle.

The programme was also complemented with health screening counters and mammograms by Hospital Sri Aman II, which are provided free of charge.

Representative of the Sri Aman Che Chuan Khor Morale Raising Organisation Tay Cho Seng, organising chairman cum Youth leader of the Sri Aman Che Chuan Khor Morale Uplifting Organisation Ngu Sze Lee, Sri Aman Benak Cycling Club president Simon Kho Guan Shin and assistant empowerment officer of the Health Department of Sri Aman Division Joshua David were also present.
