Sarawak CID D7 officers together with Sesco technicians cut off power supplies to the errant premises.

KUCHING: Three men including two foreigners were arrested for alleged involvement in online gambling activities in a seven-day operation codenamed ‘Ops Dadu’.

Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the operation by the D7 branch from Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Kuching district police headquarters (IPD), was held from Feb 13 to Feb 19.

He added that three raids were carried out around locations under the administrative of Gita police station.

“The operation resulted in a local man and two foreign men arrested for carrying out illegal online gambling activities.

“Also seized in the operation are cash amounting to RM236, three phones as well as pieces of paper written with IDs and passwords,” he said.

All the suspects will be investigated under Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, which carries a fine of up to RM50,000 and imprisonment up to three years, upon conviction.

Ahsmon said the police together with Sarawak Energy (Sesco) had also disconnected power supply to eight premises suspected to be involved in online gambling and calling centres around Gita on Tuesday (Feb 21).

The public are urged to report suspected gambling activities in their areas to the nearest police station.
