KUCHING: Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus wants Pan Borneo Highway contractors responsible for the Jalan Simpang Gedong section to take immediate measures to ensure the safety of road users.
“Last month, there were a few accidents there, and one involved the loss of life,” he said on Wednesday (May 5).
“Flow of traffic is confusing, especially to those unfamiliar with this part of the road (not far from the junction to Gedong).”
He urged the contractors responsible to take action such as making sure the lines and direction indicators are clear, especially at night.
“The contractor needs to make sure roads along Kampung Munggu Limo, the junction of Jalan Selabi Mantung Merau and Ranchan are repaired immediately.
“These damaged roads need to be upgraded. Apart from that, the drainage system needs to be cleaned, grass needs to be cut and street lighting needs to be maintained.”
