KUCHING: Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Johari Tun Openg said yesterday he would announce the route for the proposed Light Rail Transit (LRT) for Kuching to Kota Samarahan and Serian at the end of this month.

“I want to do it for Kuching first. At the end of this month, I will tell where the route will be. It is not hot air,” he said. “I will do it, don’t worry.

It is the PBB (Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu) President who is giving the order,” he said. “This will open up the development of the state. DAP (Democratic Action Party) said what I said was just hot air.

But we have a plan,. Where is the route?” he said. On how to get the fund for the project, Johari said the state had its own way. “We have our own bank.

This is how we want to develop our state,” he said.

The Minister added: “If the cost is cheap and reasonable, at least, we can start the project first and maybe, the third generation of PBB will continue it to Sibu, to Miri and to the longhouses. “We have to start..A journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step.

Let us start it with the first step. And this first step is done by PBB,” he said when officiating PBB Women Movement Retreat and 3-in-1 Programme at Penview Hotel here yesterday.

The 3 – i n – 1 Programme was the launching of the PBB Sarawak Women Wing Strategic Plan 2018-2020; the launching of PBB Sarawak Women Wing Machinery for GE14; and Renaming of Squad Sayang to Squad Kasih Sayang. Johar i pointed out China already had bullet trains which were faster than Japan’s.

“That is 380km per hour. In Sarawak, we want to have high speed trains with a speed of 380km per hour. “KL already has dr iverless trains. That is why I want to do LRT for Kuching first,” he said.
