Virpi Pahkinen Dance Company from Sweden is expected to be present for the first time at the Sibu International Dance Festival.

SIBU: The 8th edition of Sibu International Dance Festival (SIDF) being organised by Hornland Dance Theatre (HDT) and supported by Sibu Municipal Council will be held here from August 13 till 17.

Fourteen countries are expected to participate in the festival to be held at four locations here namely the Civic Centre, RH Hotel, Heritage Centre and Central Market.

“In order for the audience to get the best visual effects, the organiser will install on August 9, a complete set of sound and light systems at the Civic Centre.

“An experienced lighting designer, Tan Eng Heng from West Malaysia has been invited to help us in creating the best lighting effects for the dance performances.”

“There will be four days of dance concerts at the Civic Centre with 1,000 seats available each day.

“The organisers will also raise the seats behind the tenth row to avoid disturbing the audience’s line of sight. This is so that the audience at the back-row seats can also watch the performance in comfort,” said a press statement from HDT.
