Ahbeng’s death a great loss

KUCHING: The late Raphael Scott Ahbeng was a man of determination and able to translate society into a form of abstract art.

This was what Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg described the talented and well-established Sarawakian artist, who passed away.

Abang Johari paid his last respects to the late Ahbeng yesterday at St Joseph’s Cathedral funeral parlour.

“He (Ahbeng) was a very dear friend and a renowned artist, he was able to translate nature to a real picture.

“He was a man of determination. He can translate society in a form of art because he was good in abstract art.

“His passing is a loss for us too, but I am sure he has left a good legacy to the young generation especially the preservation of environment, culture and the way we live,” Abang Johari told reporters.
