KUCHING: A 17-month-old toddler was rescued by firefighters after being trapped in a house by himself for 30 minutes.

A distress call was received at 8.56pm on Tuesday (Feb 23) regarding the incident that occurred at Lorong Kuching City Mall 2, Jalan Stephen Yong here.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said six firefighters from the Batu Lintang station were deployed to the scene.

“The toddler was locked inside the house. He could not open the door (as being a toddler) and has yet to fully understand conversations with adults.”

Firefighters entered the house through the toilet window, proceeding to open the main door of the house.

The toddler was unhurt, and was soon back in the warm embrace of his relieved mother.
