MIRI: Much has been said about the federal government’s Village Community Management Council (MPKKP), but what is it actually?

To help the average person and the uninformed understand it, Sibuti Member of Parliament Lukanisman Awang Sauni quoted the words of one of the masterminds behind the plot, DAP’s secretary-general Lim Guan Eng himself.

Yesterday, during DAP Sarawak’s convention at Eastwood Valley Country and Golf club here, Guan Eng affirmed that the MPKKP is a “tool” of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) federal government to defeat Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the next state election due in 2021.

So, there it is, as plain as day. It is a political tool to be used to outmanoeuvre the current state government.

To Lukanisman, Guan Eng’s use of the word “tool” is “very hurtful, and irresponsible”.

“This is his second irresponsible statement meant to attack the Sarawak government,” he said when met yesterday at a town hall session on motoring sport with a group of youth in Miri.

Last June, during a visit to Kuching, Guan Eng ruffled many Sarawakians when he claimed that Sarawak would go bankrupt in three years’ time if Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition continued to rule the state.

Lukanisman insisted that MPKKP would be used to undermine the grassroots and ultimate the state government in an attempt to gain support.

Also present at the town hall hosted by Miri Youth Association was Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin.
