Abang Johari performs Aidiladha prayers at Masjid Jamek

KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg performed the Aidiladha prayers alongside approximately 5,000 Muslims of various ages at Masjid Jamek, Petra Jaya, here this morning (Jun 29).

Arriving at approximately 7.50am, Abang Johari joined the congregation in performing the Solat Sunat at the mosque, clad in a green Baju Melayu.

Accompanying him were State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, and State Secretary Datuk Amar Abu Bakar Marzuki.

Also in attendance were Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Sarawak Islamic Council president Datuk Misnu Taha, Sarawak State Mufti Datuk Kipli Yassin, and State Grand Imam Sahibul Fadillah Datuk Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi.

Following the prayers, Abang Johari and other dignitaries participated in the Majlis Qurban Perdana organised by the Sarawak Islamic Council at Dewan Hikmah Masjid Jamek.

Three cows were slaughtered, and the meat was distributed among a total of 207 recipients, with 150 packs provided to guests present at the event, while an additional 57 packs were given to the Asnaf group in the Astana and Sungai Laruh areas.
