KUCHING: A motorcyclist who was involved in an accident at Jalan Datuk Tawi Sli last Tuesday died while receiving treatment at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the victim was identified as Wilson Julius, 26, from Kampung Tangga Plaman, Serian.

He said when the accident happened about 9.30pm, the motorcyclist was riding alone from the city centre heading to Jalan Datuk Bandar Mustapha.

“While riding along Jalan Datuk Tawi Sli, he collided with an unidentified vehicle and suffered severe head injuries. He was pronounced dead at 2am while receiving treatment,” he said in a statement today.

He added that the victim’s body was then sent to the SGH Forensic Treatment Unit for further action.

“Covid-19 screening will be done first, and if the result comes back negative, the post-mortem can be done,” he said.

Further investigation into the case is still underway under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
