KUCHING: The two-day ‘Acts of Aggression’ exercise at the Kuching International Airport (KIA) is seen as an ideal platform to gauge the various agencies’ readiness in facing threats of terrorism, violence and public crisis.

State deputy police commissioner Datuk Mohd Dzuraidi Ibrahim said the full-scale simulation was also to test the agencies’ abilities and identify weaknesses in handling public disorder and terrorism threats at the airport.

“Close to 800 participants from 42 agencies from the private and public sectors took part in the exercise,” he said when officiating at its closing yesterday.

“Thankfully, all agencies involved in the exercise were able to discharge their roles and responsibilities in accordance with the guidelines as stipulated,” he added.

Dzuraidi said good teamwork among government and private agencies was crucial to ensure effective handling of threats and crisis in emergencies.

He said relevant public and private agencies would work closely with Malaysia Airports to ensure safety in all airports at all times.
